From Romans to Caliphs — Córdoba The Bridge Between Faiths

Roman roads, Islamic arches, Christian altars. Córdoba holds them all within itself. Architecture, flamenco, rich cuisine, and centuries of memories fill the corners.

The Bridge That Remembers #

Roman bridge stretching across the Guadalquivir at dusk.

It bears the weight of centuries upon itself as the Guadalquivir slips softly beneath its arches. Once, it was the only point of connection of the city. So many lives crossed here. Let’s imagine the soldiers, the merchants, the lovers… all of the passed the same worn stones, and the bridge remembers them all.

The Mosque-Cathedral #

Mosque, where the prayers raise

Beneath these arches, many Gods have been named and praised. Prayers have risen from different voices, different languages and different rituals, all seeking the same salvation.

The Streets #

A street left behind by the crowd

Streets burn quietly under the sun. Sometimes the air is stifling, as if the stones have retained the heat of ancient days, and sometimes, in the midst of modernity, we stumble upon a fragment of the past.

Where Stone Turned a Hill Into a Fortress #

The lone castle

Seen from afar, the castle looks like a lone sentinel, the Castle of Almodóvar del Río rises against the sky like a small Atlas, holding up the horizon with silent strength. The white houses at its feet sparkle against the dark, like pearls on a dark mantle.

From the castle’s heights the horizon never ends
